camara de pesqueria del ecuador

The Small Pelagics Sustainability is a Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) for the purse-seine small pelagic fishery in Ecuador, our mission is to achieve and maintain the sustainability of these resources and it supply chains.

The FIP started in October 2018, after a year of development and promotion by 20 companies in the National Chamber of Fisheries of Ecuador, including industries of marine ingredients and balanced feed.

We are working inside the MarinTrust Improver Programme, in order to achieve the MarinTrust certification for marine ingredients. However, our project seeks to integrate all supply chain stakeholders to work together for the sustainability.
Our work is projected for 5 year and is funded mainly by private funds of our
promoting member companies, and also received technical and financial support of the Global Marine Commodities Project, an interregional initiative implemented by the Ecuadorian Government, with technical support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), facilitated by the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) and funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
